What Hilt to Use?
I have the following sword - it's an OK sword with a Cruel Hilt on it.
What I'm wondering now: Should I put an Elemental Hilt on it (like Fiery, Icy, Ebon or Shocking - and if yes, then which one) or keep the Cruel one (yes, I use Gash).
Or maybe put a wholly different one on it (like Barbed or sth. - I use Sever Artery as well) - what are your suggestions?

Its a matter of preference.. really.
The lengthen of Deep Wond is basicially useless in PvP because its long enough... and normally it doesn't last that long because a monk will heal it.

Well then - would you go for elemental damage? What kind is popular. I know, that e.g. earth damage can be sneaky as not many people are prepared for it - Fire damage seems to be the most popular type of damage so you would probably not want to use it.
What are your opinions.
Does the lightning damage on a sword still have its inherent ability to penetrate armor?

No, lightning dmg does not penetrate armor.
Note that lightning spells only do so when it says 25% armor penetration. They are different things.

Elemental means a few things.
Warriors will be a bit easier to kill but you won't be cutting down Rangers very easily.
Your attacks will be subjected to the various abilities that use elemental damage for triggering. This can be useful (the Conjure spells) or inhibiting (the Mantra spells, Storm Chaser).

It depends on your build.
if you are a W/N I'd go for Zealous hilt.
if you are a W/Me I'd still go for Zealous hilt
if you are a W/M I'd still go for Zealous hilt
if you are a W/R I'd probably go for the Zealous, but maybe vampiric
if you are a W/E I'd go for one of the element for conjures

Well - Earth has no conjure and I will most likely use an Earth-Based W/E for the first build I'll try out.

Good Point, I forgot about earth not having a conjure...
if you're the solid defense earth type, I'd prolly go Vampire or Zealous
Earth's Defence costs aren't very high, and with group, using a sword, and with flurry, you'll be able to help your group's healer out by sucking away life, the life gain isn't much true, but with solid earth build, you won't be taking that much either, it makes you into a pretty viable tank.
Now if you are the AoE knockdown type, I'd definetly go Zealous, as Earths offence spells tend to suck up the mana pretty fast, and cause exhastion to boot.
